Review Board Submission Guidelines:
In
order to accommodate for all the chatters in KC, certain characters
must be submitted to the Review Board for approval. Any characters
that are seen inside the chat without prior approval from the Review
Board will be warned that they must read the guidelines below, then
submit their character to the Review Board immediately. Refusal
to do so may lead to suspension of your account.
Instructions -
Your submission should be half a page unless stated otherwise below, with a readable format
and good spelling and grammar.
When submitting a character for approval the description should include
the background of the character (this is very important, as a lot
of the decisions are made based on the background of the character
itself) and why you believe that your character should be approved for play. You
must not play your character until you've received word that your
character has been approved. This may take a while - ultimately
you will hear back in just under two weeks at the worst If you do
not hear back from the Review Board within 3 weeks, however, please
feel free to email the administration to remind us.
Characters that need to be submitted - The
following is the list of characters that must be approved by the
approval board before being played in the chats:
Drow and Toril Elves: These off-worlders need a good reason
to be on Krynn in their history. Remember that Forgotten Realms specific
items do not necessarily come with them. They must also be submitted with the character.
Dragons: Before you submit your dragon character
for approval, you must have at least basic knowledge of the character.
Keep in mind that the setting of this chat is in Solamnia.
Therefore, there are very few Dragons (if any) to be found.
For Dragons involved, with the KoS/KoT/LoS - be sure to let us know that that
is the purpose of your dragon, and how much
you're planning on playing them outside of that very limited scope.
Half-Dragons: Half-Dragons are very rare, when you
submit your request you need to have a full history on your character
and how they came to be.
Original Races: An Original race is one that
is created by a player, but not one that is cut and pasted from
another series/books/chat and the race should originate on Krynn.
Keep in mind that no "off-worlders" other then Drow, and Toril
elves are allowed in the chats.
Aberrations, Constructs, Elementals, Magical
Beasts, Oozes and other generally magically created or rare and
strange creatures: Creatures that are generally
have been magical created, or have a magical beginning or are
very rarely seen on the world of Krynn, need to have a fully fleshed
out background. Why they are here, why you'd like to PC
them (when generally these are NPC'd). These ultimately
powerful creatures should not be seen a whole lot in the chats.
Fey: Fey include but are not limited
too - Pixies, Fairies, Nymphs, Brownies, Dryads and other Fey
type creatures are generally shy beings and rarely seen on the
world of Krynn. Though there are instances where they are,
and therefore it is plausible that they would be PC'd, they still
need to be approved before played.
Undead: Undead include but are not limited
too - Vampires, Ghouls, Ghosts, Skeletons, Death Knights and any
other creature that is dead, but can be played as if they are
living. These creatures are rarely seen, and a player must
show at least basic knowledge before being approved by the Review
Board. Keep in mind that this is a DragonLance™ chat, not
a WhiteWolf™ chat, and vampires must fit the guidelines set out
by D&D and DL, not WW.
God/Goddesses: Only gods that are
not currently assigned may be applied for. Because gods are played
so rarely, inactivity will be 2 months of the player not being active,
as opposed to the character being inactive. Because of how powerful
it is for a player to control these, only the most capable players will
be allowed to have them. An essay is effective in determining how well
the player knows the mind-set of the Deity they chose to write upon.
Gods require a slightly different application than other exceptions:
DragonLance God Essay Application
1/2 page describing the deity, their domain, history, and status in your own words.
1/2 page to 1 page of fiction writing - the goal of this is to prove to us that you can
effectively RP the character you are asking for. Use correct grammar and punctuation.
If you already possess the highest ranking member of a god's faith, you cannot apply for that god.
You can make only one essay submission, and you may only possess one god.
The following are the rules regarding deities:
As the assigned player of a God, you have taken a responsibility to
remember firstly and foremost - Playing a god requires responsibility,
there are some restrictions that may be hard to understand, and we're trying
to cover them in the following 'things' below that you should be aware of.
- 1. If you are going to play a god, you shouldn't have the highest ranking
priest/follower (to allow impartiality when you are playing your character) or when
you are granting blessings to your worshipper(s) that they are subtle and reasonable
- not over-powering and overwhelming in magnificence (so no plus fifteen swords versus
undead, or ability to mop up a lord rose-knight with a sneeze!)
- 2. You need to have done your homework! this means you might have to ask around
or be familiar with the novels and at least some basic understanding of the rules. to
know how your god 'operates', who they operate with usually in their 'pantheon' (good,
neutrality, evil) and how they usually 'present' to their worshipers (subtle hints to
one worshipper, loud proclamations to many people). So this means you should be active
in the "Quest Haven" (in the boardrooms!) to answer questions and guide people on the right
course.
- 3. You need to have some judgement when people have technical/queries about 'granted powers'
(things/blessings that the god does through worshipers) or spells ('can a god of peace make a war spell?')
You should keep an eye on the Questions and Answers board. Remember even if they want technical jargon/know-how,
the moderators of the board can help you out! they're up to speed if you're not.
- 4. Keep an eye on those who are your worshipers/priests/followers - if they abuse clerical powers,
perform blasphemous acts, even go against the religion. This means you have to be in the chat
and know people, be able to at least try to talk to them if they are mis-playing. Try a little
one-to-one, and if they can't correct their errors or simply won't co-operate, hand it over to
us. It may mean that you have to 'strip them of given powers'. (Chat mods will support you if needs be.
Give us times/places if you can! Just drop us an email here)
- 5. The most IMPORTANT part is that you should be having fun, because it's a way that you can
actively participate and have some fun, but you should always remember that while you're having
fun that a god isn't a common character - they're a special event, a life changing thing for any
character whatsoever. Remember having done your research or knowing your role means that you know
they're mostly discreet and don't want to tamper with the faiths of mortals
"All my life, I was my own person. The choices I made, I made of my own free will.
I was never held in thrall by anyone or anything; not even the Queen of Darkness herself!
Bow to others in reverence and respect, but never in slavery!"
Higher then 15th Level: DragonLance™ is a
low level campaign. Any characters that are over 15th level
must be approved by the Review Board.
Guild heads: Guild heads are a special case of over 15th
level characters. Because of the position they occupy, which is not an RB
approval required, they generally are given exceptions to level
on those grounds. However, due to past abuse, the following rules apply.
- 1. No player may possess more than one guild head or position of
power in an organization at any given point in time.
These positions are things like High Clerist, Grandmaster of the KoS, Head of
any order of wizards, etc.
- 2. If you are inactive as a player, you are expected to have your character
step down, or the admins will do such for you. Inactive means 2 months in this
case (as opposed to 6 months for accounts).
- 3. Guild heads must be submitted to the RB, simply for the administration to
keep track. If you wish your Guild head to be past level 15, you must submit why
the character deserves it. Guild heads are still granted exceptions by the position,
but this is to keep thing from getting out of hand and ensure that it isn't being abused.
- 4. Becoming a Guild head does NOT automatically level your character. You still
have to earn it. This falls under rule #5.
- 5. Guild heads are not exceptions from the munchkin rule. You are STILL expected to
play responsibly and obey the rules and be respectful of your fellow players.
