Character Creation Guidelines:

  • The "Setting" - The setting or the where Kender Chat is, resides in a place near Solamnia on the world of Krynn (the Dragonlance setting), and the rooms/places reside in lands which are lands guarded by the Knights of Solamnia. The age that this chat works with is a 4th age 5th age mix.
  • Werewolves/Lycanthropes - Don't quite exist on Krynn in the conventional sense, however you may have a shape shifter, so if you have a lycanthrope character that is already established we ask that you merely change their race to Shapeshifter.
  • Munchkins - will not be tolerated and never will. Our policy is to ‘teach first, ban second’, if you have questions on Munckinism please see here (what is a munchkin?), if you still have questions please see use the Questions and Answers board in the Bored Rooms.
  • Demons/Angels - Are not allowed, no exceptions because they don't fit the 'scene' of Krynn. Summoned demons may be played as a NPC on a quest, but may not be played as a PC (playable character class)
  • Power and Reputation - We have a number of people here, a veritable cross-section of life and ages. There are those old warriors and venerable mages, those still in the prime of life wielding their skills and powers, and we also have many seeking the path of glory (or alternately infamy) emulating such greats as the Valourous Huma, Ignoble Ariakas, Temptress Kitiara, or Proud Caramon. It takes time to establish a similar 'reputation', forcing your 'right' as a general is just not common sense.
  • Magical Skills - You should realise children are much more frail, unlike their older brothers, sisters, or parents. If your character is one of few that is magically inclined, such ‘gifts’ like spells can’t be controlled (or used) until you learn it through years of training and experimentation. Most spend their early years (5-12) learning simple cantrips, the more complicated magics emerge when they reach seventeen and the ‘gifts’ and powers emerge naturally
  • Swordplay - A child or inexperienced youth can't wield a sword without tripping on it and impaling themself, so running around confounding a Knight of Solmania with a sword is a mental picture that’s not quite right. However most characters can understand the simple art of wielding a dagger in a simple fashion (it doens't take much skill to stab someone.)

  • Sorcerers - Are not Wizards, and therefore will not be required to become part of the conclave. They would be welcome to do so if they wished This does not guarantee Immunity from the conclave if said sorcerer decides to start a fight IC. But if your sorcerer is involved with a conflict that brings bad publicity to the conclave, don't be suprised if you're hunted as a renegade and executed summarily.
  • Review Board - Please go here for information/info on what needs to go through the RB. (http://prism.foxpaws.net/reviewboard/) the following ARE required to go through the RB - the usual suspects are;

    • Original Races - An Original race is one that is created by a player, but not one that is cut and pasted from another series/books/chat and the race should originate on Krynn. If you are concerned about your character, or a character that you already have established, post in the "Questions and Answers" board and we'll get back to you.

    • Off-World Races - Those characters from other 'settings' and 'worlds' should not be played here, the exception to this is Drow and Toril Elves, which may be given to the RB

    • Aberrations, Constructs, Elementals, Magical Beasts, Oozes and other generally magically created creatures -( generally these are NPC'd).

    • Fey - Including but not limited to Pixies, Fairies, Nymphs, Brownies, Dryads, etc.

    • Intelligent Undead - include but are not limited to: Vampires, Ghouls, Ghosts, Skeletons, Death Knights and any other creature that is dead, but can be played as if they are living.

    • Dragons/Half Dragons - To be fair, all persons wishing to play such a character may submit an Essay to the staff, when it's been looked at the player will be interviewed The Review board will make the final decision on all Draconic characters, this helps us keep the setting familiar and well balanced (not having 50 dragons running around)
      • The rules for Dragons are as follows:
      • 1. Chromatic Dragons- ie Evil ones, now fall under the general RB rules again. That said, we plan on being very selective, and you should expect to have to speak one on one with the admins personally to have your request granted.
      • 2. The Review board submission should include a detailed GOOD history of WHY they are among people and in the area.
      • 3.If they abuse the RB approval playing a dragon “munchkiny” they will get 2 warnings and the 3rd they will loss the dragon. 1st warning will be one week no playing the dragon- 2nd warning will be two weeks- 3rd loss of playing a dragon.
      • 4. Any dragons beyond the age of adult are typically too powerful for any PC that is not part of a major chat wide war or quest. In situations where the admins desire a player for an older than adult dragon, we will make this known or choose them ourselves. This means that dragons up to and including the age of adult may be submitted to the RB for approval.
      • 5. Dragons, may find human facinating, but do not usually attack them without *very* good cause. Keep in mind that as a dragon character, you should not abuse the power granted to you by the race. In other words, the expectation is if mortal PCs leave you alone, you should probably leave them alone as well. Players who pick fights with dragons should be reminded of the section of the rules regarding picking fights with legendary characters. Additionally, common sense will come into play here between KoS and KoT.

    • Gods - You have to go through the essay/interview process, this helps us ensure you'll play the role in a fair manner that suits the 'casting' for that God. (If one isn’t ‘assigned’ and you want to play it, start asking questions in the "Questions and Answers" board)

    • If you're going to use stats - Maximum character Level is 15 without review board approval. Characters whose positions make them –need- to be over 15th level also need go go through the RB now, however they will generally be granted the levels.
